Frequently asked questions

What is the Moon feature light and how is it typically installed?

Moon is a modern architectural pendant with a direct and indirect light output, available as a surface mounted fitting or, with the optional suspension kit, as a pendant. It comes in two sizes, the 875mm SuperMoon and the smaller 585mm MiniMoon, so the same design language can cover both a feature centrepiece and general lighting duties within a building. It has been installed at projects including Windsor House in Harrogate and Burlington Square Apartments in Manchester, showing it working in both commercial and residential settings.

What colour temperature options does Moon offer?

Moon is available in 3000K, 4000K or 5000K, with each colour temperature set at the point of order via its own part code rather than switched on site. This still gives specifiers a wide choice of tone, from warm to cool white, to match Moon to the rest of a lighting scheme. Confirming the required colour temperature before ordering, alongside the wattage, ensures the correct part code is quoted first time.

What is the difference between MiniMoon and SuperMoon?

MiniMoon is the smaller model at 585mm diameter, available in 38W or 48W and producing from around 4,185 up to 5,295 lumens depending on wattage and colour temperature. SuperMoon is the larger 875mm diameter version, available in 76W or 96W, producing from around 8,365 up to 10,694 lumens. This gives specifiers two size and output options within the same design, so Moon can be scaled to suit a small meeting room or a larger open plan or reception space. Both sizes share the same 120 degree beam angle and colour rendering above 85 Ra.

What dimming and emergency options are available with Moon?

Moon can be specified tosupports mains, DALI, 0-10V or DSI dimming, and can also be specified with Casambi wireless control or a PIR sensor. Emergency versions include a standard 3 hour emergency pack and a DALI addressable emergency option, with MiniMoon additionally offering a Z10 remote control integral emergency version. This range of control protocols means Moon can be specified into most standard building lighting control systems rather than requiring a bespoke control solution.

How does Moon manage glare while still producing a strong light output?

Moon uses a microprismatic diffuser combined with a direct and indirect light output, so it can deliver a bold visual presence without creating uncomfortable glare for people working nearby or looking up at the fitting. Its UGR rated performance and TP(a) fire classification support specification in offices and other spaces where visual comfort and fire safety are both part of the brief. The same diffuser and glare control benefit apply across both the MiniMoon and SuperMoon sizes.
