Lighting for hospitality

Hospitality lighting has to do two things at once. It has to make a space feel like somewhere people want to stay, and it has to work for the people running it.

In a restaurant or bar, warm colour temperature and good dimming matter more than raw output. Light levels that suit a busy lunch service are wrong for the evening, so control is usually the difference between a scheme that works and one that gets left on a single setting. Food and drink also need decent colour rendering, since anything that makes a plate look grey will be noticed even if nobody can say why.

Hotels add a further layer. Reception, lounge, corridors, lifts and back of house all sit in one building and all need something different, while still reading as one property. Corridors and stairs carry emergency lighting requirements under BS 5266, and guest areas need fittings that survive being cleaned every day.

Cafés and casual dining sit somewhere in between, usually with a tighter budget and a shorter fit-out programme, which is where UK stock and short lead times make a practical difference.

We also supply leisure venues, including pool halls, where fittings have to cope with chlorine and humidity while keeping glare off the water surface.

Our in-house lighting design team will specify the scheme, and we manufacture in Manchester, so custom finishes, lengths and profiles are a production decision rather than an import lead time.
